HTML and CSS are the languages used to create functional webpages from graphical website design concepts or "mockups". I refer to this as 'slicing' your website because the process requires us to 'cut up' the graphic draft into smaller images for use within the website template.

CSS allows Web authors to address the graphical layout of a page separately from its content and logical structure. This makes for cleaner, easier-to-update HTML code and the potential to view single HTML files in multiple formats, as appropriate for different contexts and devices.
